Mentre l’Esercito dell’Arakan (AA) rafforza il suo controllo su gran parte dello Stato Rakhine in Myanmar, sono emersi due distinti gruppi di accuse che meritano attenzione. I sopravvissuti avrebbero raccontato di essere stati fermati dai combattenti dell’AA mentre cercavano di fuggire dopo un ordine di evacuazione e poi di essere stati colpiti lungo la strada principale. Alcuni testimoni sostengono che un soldato dell’AA avrebbe dato l’ordine via walkie-talkie: “Uccideteli tutti.” Una donna, Rahima, sarebbe stata colpita più volte, avrebbe perso cinque figli e visto uccidere il marito. Un altro sopravvissuto, Rashid Ahmed, avrebbe perso sette dei suoi nove familiari. A quanto pare, i superstiti sarebbero stati costretti a dichiarare falsamente che i responsabili erano i militari della giunta birmana. Mohammad Elias, che sarebbe tornato a casa il 16 febbraio dopo sei mesi di prigionia con i suoi due figli, avrebbe raccontato di essere stato inseguito e preso a bordo del suo peschereccio, sebbene fosse in acque bangladesi. Durante la detenzione, avrebbe ricevuto un solo pasto ogni 24 ore e avrebbe subito maltrattamenti che gli sarebbero costati due denti e notevole perdita di peso. The Arakan Army is taking control of a lot of Rakhine State in Myanmar. There are two problems that people are talking about. One problem is that the Arakan Army is hurting Rohingya civilians badly. The other problem is that many Bangladeshi fishermen have been taken away from their boats at sea.
A group called Fortify Rights wrote a report on April 9 2026. They found out that something bad happened to Rohingya civilians on May 2 2024 in a village called Hoyyar Siri. People who survived this event said that Arakan Army fighters stopped them while they were trying to leave the area. Then the fighters shot them on the road. One of the survivors said that an Arakan Army soldier told his people to “Kill them all” over a walkie-talkie. A woman named Rahima was shot times and lost five of her children. She also saw her husband being killed. Another survivor, Rashid Ahmed lost seven people in his family. The survivors were later forced to say that the military did these things but that was not true. Fortify Rights wants the International Criminal Court to look into these things and punish the people in charge of the Arakan Army.
On the hand a news website called bdnews24.com wrote about something that happened on April 11 2026. They said that many Bangladeshi fishermen have been taken away from their boats at sea. A man named Mohammad Elias came home on February 16 after being for six months. He said that he was taken away from his boat even though he was in Bangladeshi waters. While he was being held he only got one meal every day. Was treated very badly. He lost two teeth. Became very skinny. His boat was not given back to him. Many families have not heard from their loved ones for a time. The local authorities know that some fishermen have been taken away. They tell the fishermen not to cross into other countries waters. The fishermen are scared. They have to go back to sea to feed their families. One fisherman said, “If I don’t fish we don’t eat.”
The Arakan Army says that they did not do these things. They have not said sorry for what happened. The information we have comes from people who talked to the victims. We need to make sure it is true before we can say for sure what happened. The Arakan Army and the Rohingya civilians and the Bangladeshi fishermen are all involved, in this situation.
